The 2025 RIU Explorers Conference was buzzing with energy. It hosted 2,300 delegates and 150 exhibitors at the Esplanade Hotel—By Rydges in Fremantle, the most significant number of attendees in RIU’s history. Despite global market volatility, constant media coverage of recessions, and fluctuating interest rates, miners, explorers, and investors are ready to discuss the industry’s future.

The RIU Explorers conference this year saw a packed full house of over 1800 delegates and 200 exhibitors in the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle.

The financial year kicked off with the annual Diggers and Dealers event in August, returning to its usual slot. It drew one of the largest crowds, even without interstate or international travellers due to WA’s COVID restrictions. The event turned into a WA beat the drum fest, with gold dominating discussions.

The mining industry has once again faced many challenges this year, with a major one again being the microscope the industry has been put under for its male-dominated culture. This year’s Australian Mining Risk Forecast has been recently released by KPMG and it’s an interesting read on what mining executives believe are the top risks in the mining industry.

From March 2022 a new domain name category has become available for Australian domain names, with the new, shorter .au name arriving. With the release of these shortened domain names, the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) have recommended Australian businesses to register for their equivalent .au domain before the 20th September to avoid potential fraudulent activity by cyber criminals.
